Welcome to the 2010 Lacrosse Season

Mimico Minor Lacrosse Club celebrates 120^th Year

2010 promises to be a memorable year at Mimico, while looking back at our 120 year history, we are leading the way forward to the future of our sport, with the initiation of on-line registration and introduction of girls field lacrosse. As well, the Jr. B’s will be hosting the Founder’s Cup in August. 

On-Line Registration coming to www.mimicolacrosse.com

A pilot project in 2010 of the Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA), on-line registration of Mimico players will be available for the 2010 season. ALL new and returning players will need to SCAN and UPLOAD their Birth Certificate or Passport into the registration system. Payment can be by Visa, Mastercard or by Debit through your PayPal account. Our on-line registration target date is February 1^st.

In-Person Registration Nights – Thursday, February 18 & Thursday, March 4 (Mastercard Centre 6:30 - 9 p.m.)

Two in-person registration nights will be scheduled to offer access to on-line registration, and registration of Coaches, Managers and Volunteers. As the OLA registration form may no longer be used for PLAYERS, documents will be scanned and on-line registration completed “while you wait”. Remember to bring Birth Certificates or Passports, and allow sufficient time for anticipated line-ups. Houseleague Volunteers; Spaces Limited

2010 houseleague program will be limited to six teams per age division; register early as spaces are limited. All games will be played on weekends (including Midgets). Please note that there will be no Intermediate Houseleague program in 2010.

Coaching Clinic Workbooks: Deadline March 1st

Coaches who completed a clinic in 2009 or earlier and have not submitted their workbooks must do so by March 1, 2010 or they may be asked to re-take the appropriate clinic. Please send to the Ontario Lacrosse Assn. 3 Concorde Gate, Suite 306,Toronto M3C 3N7. (We suggest keeping a photocopy prior to sending).

Mimico Lacrosse History & Memorabilia

On the occasion of our 120^th Anniversary, we’d like to bring together old lacrosse photos, stories or articles to be copied, or other treasures to be enjoyed by all. If you have items that would be of interest, please contact Dawn Dixon at promotion@mimicolacrosse.com.

Field Program: New U11 Girls Team & Expanded Season

Mimico is pleased to announce participation in the Ontario Women’s Lacrosse (OWL) U11 league, with a team coached by Shelby Simons and Colleen Grimes. U11 is open to girls born in 2000 or later. League competes over three Saturdays plus a one-day Provincial Championship Tournament. 

Pre-season Field workouts are scheduled to start in February, with the season starting in mid-April and running through to the end of May. Reminder that all players must be registered prior to participating.

Playing season will expand in 2010 to a full five weeks and participation by all U11 and U13 teams in Provincials; U15 and U17 teams will play for four weeks, plus qualifiers with four teams instead of three per division advancing to Provincials. Provincials will be played in Brampton Victoria Day weekend. 

Referee & Timekeeper Clinics

Clinic for new and returning referees scheduled for March 7^th at Glen Forest School in Mississauga. Pre-registration required through Mimico’s Referee-in-Chief, Lindsay LeBlanc at mimico-ric@hotmail.com.   Further de tails on our website. Minimum age for refs are 2^nd year Bantam (1996). Anyone interested in timekeeping should contact Lindsay for notification of timekeepers meeting.
